If the joint presentation given by Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble on the new three-tier gradation payment system gets approved then the current system where cricketers were awarded contracts on the basis of their Experience, form and reputation would become a thing of past.
On Sunday in Hyderabad, this joint presentation was given to Committee of Administration (CoA) and BCCI via video conference. In this presentation, Kohli and Kumble proposed a new three-tier gradation payment system where Test players will be paid the highest followed by One-Day International and T20 players.
This proposal would entail a hike of over 150% from the current Grade –A payment of Rs.2 crore to Rs.5 crore. But it might have a negative impact on the former Test captain MS Dhoni as now he only lays limited over cricket.
Now we have to see that whether few exceptions would be made considering MS Dhoni or not. On May 26 this proposal would be discussed by the board SGM. Sources say that in this new payment format, the players who are playing only shorter format will not earn much as compared to those players who plays all the three formats.
